Since I'm not using my FB, and since I'm job hunting, I thought I might as well make it employer-pleasing then set everything public. I'm going to unfriend everybody I REALLY like (no butthurt, OK? I wasn't reading you over there anyway) and add people like my in-laws and professional references instead. If anybody else has a FB account for your professional self lemme know and I'll add you--I know some of you have both. Now I just need a headshot of me in my glasses and interview suit...

worth watching the whole thing, but esp. part 2 for the heavy metal mass (that is a really cool protestant church) and my friend Titus Hjelm doing his thing.

Saw this on DB. Man Ray was one of the first photographers I really learned about (from BB, I confess, as with many artists) and I still enjoy his work at lot.

K & I had our anniversary dinner at Patowmack Farms last weekend, and it was awesome. We got the five course tasting menu with wine pairings: Mine included an herb crepe canneloni with fresh chevre, roasted beets, and balsamic; a cappuccino of pumpkin soup with frothed truffle milk sprinkled with powdered porcini; potato gnocchi with a mushroom sage consumme; risotto with triple creme cheese, carmelized onion, and green apple carpaccio; and chocolate chestnut cake with creme fraiche and spiced chocolate sauce. They even printed up menus for us that wished us a happy anniversary, and served dessert with fondant strips also printed with anniversary wishes. Plus everything was organic and local.

Today I got a coconut cake from Vegan Treats, who make the best desserts I've ever had, vegan or otherwise. And I love coconut. So happy birthday to me four days late; now I can really celebrate!

Looking forward to dinner next week at the BMA; I've heard good things about the place.

A little more than ten years ago, I remember standing in front of a judge, wearing shackles, trying to explain why he shouldn't send me to county jail. Today, I sat with a judge at my law school who decided to share the secret to his chili recipe with me.

It's a goddamn trip.

I've been intending to write a review of the Eris for a couple of days now, but all my spare time has been spent playing with my new phone. I'm very happy with the slim 126g of phone with its big, bright screen and sensitive response. Loading it up with apps has been painless, even fun.

This device out-modes my phone, my pda, my mp3 player, my gps receiver, and if I had them, my camera, my satellite radio, my blackberry, and my VR goggles. Integrating cell-phone, wi-fi, bluetooth, gps, camera, internet, email... boggles the mind.

Subject:Fort Hood: remember remember the 5th of November

On Thursday, November 5th I was driving home from work when I heard over the radio the last line of a public statement from Barry Obama, "it's difficult enough when we lose these brave Americans in battles overseas. It is horrifying that they should come under fire at an Army base on American soil."

My heart sank and suddenly it was 2001, on the 11th of September. Without any details my mind produced the worst case scenario. Gunfire and smoke. Explosions and blood. And as I imagined the consequences of another terrorist attack all I could think about was internment camps.
